北洋造光绪元宝正面铸有铭文，顶部铸楷体“北洋造”，底部铸货币价值如：“库平七钱二分”，中心直读“光绪元宝”四字，币中心为满文“光绪元宝”。银币背面外圈顶部用英文标准字体铭“YEAR OF KUANG HSU”字样，下面英文“PEI YANG”，左侧标注年份：34th，表示是光绪三十四年铸造出来。内圈铸有中心为蟠龙图，品相精致，其审美风格独特。钱币虽小，也可管窥社会文化一斑。
