棉花病害和虫害(cotton diseases and insect pests of cotton)中国仅枯萎病和黄萎病为害，每年损失皮棉7.5-10万吨。已记载的棉病有40多种，其中苗期和铃期病害比较普遍； 枯萎病和黄萎病在不少地区已造成较大损失，茎枯病在低温、多雨年份常突发流行，红叶茎枯病在高温、干旱和土壤瘠薄地区引起生理性早衰；角斑病主要在海岛棉上发生。中国棉区的苗期病害多发生在4月至5月间，发病率一般在50%以上，死苗率为5-10%；已发现的棉苗病害有20多种，主要病原菌有：立枯病Rhizoctonia solani、炭疽病Glomerella gossypii、红腐病Fusarium spp.、猝倒病Pythium aphanidermatum, P.debaryanum、黑根腐病Thielaviopsis basicolaol、白绢病Sclerotium rolfsii和枯腐病Macrophomina phaseoli等。叶病为害棉苗的子叶、真叶和茎，严重时茎顶端和叶片凋枯脱落。主要病原菌有：轮纹斑病Alternaria spp.、茎枯病Ascochyta gossypii、疫病Phytophthora boehmeriae、褐斑病Phyllosticta malkoffii, P.gossypina、印度炭疽病Colletotrichum indicum和角斑病Xanthomonas campestris pv malvacearum等，炭疽病和红腐病菌也为害子叶。枯萎病的发病始期为子叶期，发病盛期在现苗前后；黄萎病发病始期在3-5片真叶期，发病盛期在花蕾期。中国的棉花虫害有300余种，比较常见的有30余种，北部特早熟棉区是棉蚜、棉铃虫；西北内陆棉区是棉长管蚜Acyrthosiphon gossypii、黄地老虎Euxoa segetum、盲椿Adelphocoris spp.及Lygus spp.和棉铃虫；黄河流域棉区是棉蚜、棉铃虫、地老虎、盲椿、叶螨Tetranychus spp.、玉米螟Ostrinia palustralis、小造桥虫Anomis flava和红铃虫。长江流域棉区是红铃虫、叶螨、盲椿、棉蚜、棉铃虫、地老虎、棉叶蝉Empoasca biguttula和蜗牛Fruticicola ravida；华南棉区为金刚钻、红铃虫、棉铃虫、棉叶蝉和红椿Dsydercus cingulatus。
