一般过去时态什么情况下可以使用呢？
1）表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态，常和yesterday, last week, two weeks ago, in 1994,just now(刚才）， the day before yesterday（前天）等表示过去的时间状语以及when等连词引导的时间状语从句连用。
They went to England for a holiday last summer.去年暑假他们去英国度假了 。
2）表示过去经常性习惯性的动作。
She often went to school by bike when she studied there.
她在那里学习的时候，经常骑自行车去上学。
3）有时不表示过去的时间，只表示一种委婉客气的语气。例如：
Could you help me, please?请问你能帮我一下吗？
Would you like something to drink?你想要喝些什么吗？
４）用于虚拟语气中，表示与现在事实相反。
If I won a million dollars, I’d give it to charities. 要是我赢了一百万美元，我就把它捐给慈善机构。
5）一般过去时强调动作的完成。
He wrote a letter yesterday evening. 他昨晚写了一封信。
6) 当一个由before, often, as soon as等连词引导的从句所表示的动作与主句的动作前后紧接时，由于连词本身已经说明了两个动作的先后关系，所以这两个动作都可用一般过去时。当然从句中的那个动作发生在前面的，也可用过去完成时。例如
After I finished my homework, I went to bed last night.
After I had finished my homework, I went to bed last night.
我昨晚完成家庭作业后才上床睡觉。
一般过去时态的用法
一般过去时态的结构有两类，和一般现在时相同，这两类结构只能选一样。
第一类：含be动词的句型
肯定句：主语 + was/were +...
否定句：主语 + was/were +not +...
一般疑问句：Was/Were + 主语 +...?
特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词 + was/were + 主语+...?
例１There is a football under the table. 桌子下面有一个足球。
There isn’t a football under the table. 桌子下面有一个足球。
Is there a football under the table?桌子下面有一个足球吗？
特殊疑问句对under the table提问是Where is there a football?
哪里有一个足球？如果对a football提问，What is there under the table?
例2 He was in China last month. 他上个月在中国。
He wasn’t in China last month. 他上个月不在中国。
Was he in China last month?他上个月在中国吗？
特殊疑问句对last month提问是When was he in China? 对in China提问是 Where was he last month?
一般过去时态的结构
第二类：含实义动词的句型
肯定句：主语+动词过去式+ ...
否定句： 主语+didn’t +动词原形（简称动原）+...
一般疑问句：Did +主语+动原 +...？
特殊疑问句： 特殊疑问词+ did +主语 +动原 +...？
例如 I saw Li Ping in town just now. 我刚才在镇上见到了李平。
I didn’t see Li Pin in town just now. 我刚才没有在镇上见到李平。
Did you see Li Ping in town just now? 你刚才在镇上见到李平了吗？
变问句时第一人称要变成第二人称。
特殊疑问句对Li Ping提问是Who did you see just now? 对in town提问是Where did you see Li Ping just now?
